Canada has voiced its objection to Israel’s recent move to authorize additional settlement construction in the occupied West Bank, warning that the decision could increase tensions and complicate efforts to bring stability to the region.

Canadian officials indicated that the expansion risks deepening divisions on the ground and could make future diplomatic engagement more challenging. They stressed that steps altering the status of contested areas often have long-term consequences for both regional security and civilian populations.

The Canadian government reiterated its support for a negotiated resolution to the conflict, noting that unilateral actions are unlikely to produce lasting peace. Officials urged all sides to avoid measures that could fuel further unrest and instead focus on dialogue and de-escalation.

The announcement has added to ongoing international concern over developments in the West Bank, as governments continue to assess how recent decisions may affect broader peace efforts and humanitarian conditions.

Canada also emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and maintaining respect for established international principles while addressing long-standing political disputes.
